With your financial support, our goal is to improve care for patients with bleeding and clotting problems. There is a striking lack of knowledge about the carbohydrate structures that are present on platelets and coagulation proteins. By studying these structures, we hope to gain fundamental insights into the biology of hemostasis and thrombosis that will lead to improved outcomes for patients with conditions such as heart attack, stroke, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, postpartum hemorrhage, heavy menstrual bleeding, Von Willebrand disease, immune thrombocytopenia, and fetal/neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia.
